Glitch forces PAL plane to make emergency landing

PALAWAN, Philippines—A Palawan-bound Philippine Airlines plane was forced to make an emergency landing on Tuesday morning due to a mechanical glitch.

PAL Express flight RP-C3030 was carrying 60 passengers to Busuanga in Palawan province when a landing gear failed to retract after it flew out of Terminal 3 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport at 8:30 a.m.

Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines spokesperson Eric Apolonio said pilot Capt. Ronald Victorino followed standard operating procedure and immediately turned back to Manila.

The pilot landed the plane safely at 9:03 a.m.

The passengers were transferred to the Busuanga-bound flight that departed at 10:30 a.m. and arrived there at noon. Jeannette I. Andrade
