Government uniformed personnel can look forward to a raise in their daily subsistence allowance from P90 to P150, or P60.
President Aquino approved Monday increasing the subsistence allowance of the Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines and other uniformed personnel.
The PNP, through its spokesperson Chief Supt. Generoso Cerbo Jr., thanked the President for the raise.
Cerbo said the increase will boost morale in the police force as well as in the other uniformed services.
“Of course we are happy. The PNP is thankful to the President for his concern for our welfare. This will be a big boost to the morale of the 150,000 PNP personnel,” Cerbo said.
On Monday, President Aquino approved a raise in the daily subsistence allowance of uniformed personnel that was proposed in a joint resolution of the Senate and the House of Representatives.
From a daily subsistence allowance of P90, uniformed government service personnel will now receive P150.
The Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, and Philippine Coast Guard are also covered by the increase.
The joint congressional resolution had noted that the subsistence allowance was “no longer adequate to meet basic needs in view of the prices of basic commodities.”
For this year, the allowance increase will be culled from the savings of the relevant government agencies. In succeeding years, it will be included in the national budget.
