Missionary Jocelyn Manalang

As a missionary, 35-year-old Jocelyn Manalang was spreading the word of God in “non-Christian” countries like China, Thailand and Taiwan when her kidneys started to malfunction, requiring her to undergo hemodialysis.

“I made her tag along with me. While we were busy teaching the adults in those countries, she was teaching the children good manners,” said Virginia Manalang of Sto. Domingo, Pampanga, Jocelyn’s mother.

Mother and daughter began working as missionaries in 2005, relying on sponsors for their travel and other expenses.  They returned to the country in 2012 when Jocelyn’s kidney ailment worsened.

“I am appealing to your kind-hearted readers to help us because she used to have only dialysis two sessions a week, now it’s three times a week,” said Virginia, who has become a manicurist to support her daughter’s medical expenses.

At P2,400 per session, Virginia said they spend P28,800 a month.

Virginia Manalang can be reached at 0923-9243037. Donations can be deposited in her other daughter’s Metrobank account (Johana Forto, Angeles City branch) with account #3430047370.
