Cops hunt village head for slay try on girlfriend

A police manhunt is now on against a village chief of Ligao City in Albay who fled after attempting to kill his girlfriend while in front of a restaurant-bar in Naga City Friday evening.

Senior Police Officer 1 Toby Bongon, spokesperson of Naga City Police Office, said Orlando Rolda, village head of Barangay Paulog in Ligao City, shot Myra Reyes Enaje, 36, three times in the face and neck in front of Red Cactus Resto Bar along Magsaysay Avenue, Naga City at 9:40 p.m.

Investigation showed Enaje, a resident of Barangay Liboton, Naga City, was having a drink with a lady friend inside Red Cactus when Rolda arrived and asked her to step outside.

Bongon said Rolda tried to convince Enaje not to end their relationship when their conversation turned into an altercation.

Witnesses said Enaje was walking back to her friend when Rolda pulled out a .45-cal. gun and shot her two times in the face and once in the neck.

“Rolda’s shots missed, leaving Enaje with grazed wounds, sparing her life,” Bongon said.

Enaje was brought to Bicol Medical Center and declared in stable condition.

Witnesses said Rolda escaped from the scene of the crime on board a white car.

Bongon said Rolda could face charges of frustrated murder for shooting Enaje and grave threat for pointing his gun at one of the security guards of the establishment.

The Naga City Police Office is coordinating with Ligao City Police Office in the manhunt for Rolda, said Bongon. GR/RC
