MANILA, Philippines — Beware of two women claiming to be members of the police force and soliciting money allegedly to expedite government transactions.
Introducing themselves as Police Chief Inspector Princess Domingo, also known as Patricia Domingo, and Police Superintendent Grace Perez, apparently promise their victims that their ‘‘donation’’ will facilitate government transactions.
In a statement issued Friday, the Philippine National Police (PNP) strongly denied that Domingo and Perez are members of the 150,000-strong organization.
PNP spokesperson Chief Superintendent Generoso Cerbo Jr. said the con artists are introducing themselves as working under the authority of the Department of Interior and Local Government and the PNP.
But when checked by the PNP, it found no records for Perez and Domingo at the Directorate for Personnel and Records Management.
“With this, the DILG and the PNP appeal to the public that any person who shall falsely misrepresent himself to be an officer, agent or representative of any department or agency of the Philippine Government shall be liable under the Revised Penal Code,” Cerbo said.
Fixers, or any person facilitating speedy completion of transactions, shall be penalized under Republic Act 9485 or the Anti-Red Tape Act of 2007.
