Five men wearing ski masks and armed with guns and knives chased a teenage street gang member to his neighbor’s house where they cornered and killed him Friday in Manila. The suspects quickly fled after making sure that Aljoven Canalete, 19, an alleged member of the Commando gang, of Mabagos Street in Tondo, was dead. Canalete was instantly killed from two bullet wounds in the head and in the body as well as three knife wounds in the abdomen, shoulder, and arm. PO3 Efren Flores, of the Manila Police District (MPD) homicide section, said nobody was willing to give a statement that could help establish the motive behind the killing and provide leads to the identities of the suspects.
