Large areas of Central Luzon still flooded

MANILA, Philippines—Large areas of Luzon remained flooded as six dams have  been releasing waters since Thursday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC)  said Friday.

Some villages were enduring water nearly two storeys high after Typhoon Pedring (international codename: Nesat) 1 the country, and the government said another typhoon,  Quiel, was expected to dump just as much rain over the same areas this weekend.

NDRRMC executive director Benito Ramos said 55 barangay in Hagonoy and Calumpit towns in Bulacan have been severely affected by the flooding.

Search and rescue teams have been sent in the area, Ramos said.

Coastal towns in Pampanga, from Sasmuan to Lubao, were flooded, while the towns of Calumpit, Malolos, Hagonoy and Marunas in Bulacan were also under water.
