Napoles daughter asks tax court to defer issuance of arrest warrant

MANILA, Philippines–Jeane Catherine Napoles, daughter of alleged pork barrel scam mastermind Janet Lim Napoles asked the Court of Tax Appeals to defer the issuance of a warrant of arrest and suspend the proceedings on her case.

The younger Napoles is facing two counts of violation of the National Internal Revenue Code (NIRC).

According to the DOJ, Jeane Catherine is liable to pay P17.887 million basic tax deficiencies broken down as follows:

Napoles’ bid to defer the issuance of a warrant for her arrest and to suspend the proceedings on her case was contained in a motion for judicial determination of probable cause which was filed by her lawyers.

Justice Secretary Leila de Lima said she has yet to verify the information with the Bureau of Immigration.
