MANILA, Philippines– Although “Betty” weakened into a low pressure area (LPA) early Thursday, light to moderate rains are expected in parts of Luzon including Metro Manila until the weekend, the state weather bureau said.

“This weather system is expected to bring light to moderate rains over Bicol region and Quezon province beginning Friday afternoon,” the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.

Rains are expected to continue over the rest of Southern and Central Luzon and National Capital Region on Saturday until Sunday, it added.

The LPA was last spotted 820 kilometers east of Casiguran in Aurora. It entered the Philippine area of responsibility on Tuesday as a tropical storm before it weakened.
