MANILA, Philippines— Tropical Storm “Bavi” (local name “Betty”) headed for Aurora on Tuesday afternoon, the state weather bureau said.
As of 4 p.m. Bavi was still outside the Philippine area of responsibility, but it will enter the PAR within the day, Aldczar Aurelio of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.
It is expected to hit land on Friday in Aurora.
Bavi was last spotted 1,435 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora, with maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 80 kph.
It is forecast to move west northwest at 17 kph.
A ridge of high pressure area is affecting Northern Luzon, Pagasa said.
The whole country will experience partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with isolated rains or thunderstorms.
