Romulo “Kid” Peña Jr. has been Makati’s vice mayor since 2010.
In the May 2013 elections, Peña ran for reelection under the Liberal Party as the running mate of mayoral candidate Renato Bondal.
Once a supporter of the Binays, Peña turned against them in 2010 to be the running mate of Ernesto Mercado, then the Makati vice mayor who was challenging Jejomar Erwin “Junjun” Binay Jr. for the top City Hall post.
Peña was a councilor when he ran with Mercado. At the time, Peña was also president of the Association of Barangay Captains.
Prior to his stint as Makati councilor from 2007 to 2010, Peña was a barangay chair (2005 to 2010) and a kagawad (1995 to 2005) of Barangay Valenzuela. Before entering politics, Peña worked as a fast-food crew member and a pizza delivery rider.
Born on Aug. 5, 1969, Peña is married to Marizelle.
