Manila bar owner found dead inside SUV

A Filipino-Chinese bar owner was found dead and hog-tied inside his sport utility vehicle in Ermita, Manila, early Saturday.

The police are looking at robbery as the motive in the killing of Angel Dy, 59, a resident of Sucat, Parañaque City, and owner of a bar in Intramuros.

The victim’s body was discovered by his waiters around 3 a.m. in the backseat of his maroon Mitsubishi Montero Sport, which was then parked on Padre Burgos Avenue near the Lawton underpass, and within walking distance from his business establishment.

The employees said they last saw Dy alive at the bar around 7 p.m. on Friday and they thought he had gone home. When his wife called at 2:30 a.m. to look for him, two waiters went out to check his vehicle and found their boss inside.

The victim’s family called for assistance but Dy was already dead when an emergency team arrived.

A report by the Manila Police District (MPD) said the body bore no signs of injury other than a cut in the right toe.

Dy was found barefoot, wearing a white polo shirt and black short pants, and was hog-tied with packaging tape.

His black Tumi clutch bag containing personal effects and an undetermined amount of money was missing, the MPD said.

A street vendor told the police that two men were seen getting out of the vehicle around 12:30 a.m.
