Jenelyn Jabone is hoping that her son, Achilles, would be well on the way to recovery before the shanty where she and family are staying is demolished which could be any time soon.

The Jabone family are from Mercedes, Camarines Norte, but they have been living in Muntinlupa City for the past two years to have Achilles treated.

The 4-year-old boy has been diagnosed with total anomalous pulmonary venous return, a rare congenital heart ailment in which the pulmonary veins are not connected to the left atrium.

The veins are instead attached to the right atrium although Philippine Heart Center doctors have said that this could be corrected through surgery. They have advised Jenelyn and her husband Jupil Jabone to raise P77,000 for the operation while the hospital and the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office will shoulder the rest totaling P373,000.

The couple appealed for help as Jupil, the breadwinner, earns only so much as a janitor at a rural savings bank in Las Piñas City.

“They told us that the earlier the operation is done, the better, because my son could die if the pressure increases on his lungs,” said Jenelyn who may be reached at 0910-3106366. Donations can be deposited in her BPI account (#3169272955), Alabang branch. Santiago R. Alcantara
