THE SACRED HEART SCHOOL-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles gun for their fifth straight title in the Passerelle division but will have to hurdle a determined University of the Visayas (UV) squad today in the finals of the 2011 Milo-backed BEST Twin Tournament Cebu at the Mandaue City Cultural and Sports Complex.
For four years, the Magis Eagles have set the standard for grassroots basketball supremacy and had their best year to date last year as they captured the national crown.
Article continues after this advertisementThey gained a seat in the Cebu leg finals last weekend as they blasted the University of San Carlos (USC)-South, 70-46, behind the imposing presence of Dawn Ochea.
Article continues after this advertisementWhile Ateneo de Cebu cruised to the finals, UV had to scrap their way in and did so in beating the University of Cebu (UC), 60-56. The win marked the first time that UV has made the finals since their Passerelle program’s inception. Expected to lead the way for UV are Paul Desiderio and Ralph Dinolan.
USC-South and UC will tangle for third place in the first game at 5:30 p.m., which will be immediately followed by the title game set at 7 p.m. Correspondent Jonas Panerio
