ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – A school teacher, who was reportedly abducted due to the “unpaid debt” of her sister, was released by her abductors in Indanan, Sulu, on Wednesday, authorities said.
Col. Allan Arrojado, commander of the military-led Joint Task Group Sulu, told the Philippine Daily Inquirer by phone that Allyn Muksan Abdurajak, 44, was handed to her “immediate family” during a meet-up with the abductors in Barangay Kajatian in Indanan town around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Abdurajak, a teacher at the Jolo School of Fisheries and the wife of a retired police officer, was abducted on Tuesday evening by two unidentified armed men.
Her abduction was said to be the offshoot of her sister’s failure to pay her debt to the unidentified creditor, according to police investigators.
He said Abdurajak might have been freed after her family had successfully negotiated with the unidentified creditor.
“A negotiation for the settlement of the obligation may have been successfully done,” Arrojado said of the teacher’s release from captivity.
