Senate gives P5.1-M financial assistance to SAF men
MANILA, Philippines – Members of the Philippine National Police-Special Action Force (PNP-SAF) who participated in the January 25 Mamasapano operation will receive a total of P5.1 million financial assistance from the Senate, Senate President Franklin Drilon announced on Wednesday.
Drilon said the fund would be sourced from the savings of the chamber last year.
The family of the 44 SAF members who were killed in the operation will receive P100,000 each while the 15 policemen who were injured will receive P30,000 each and the 15 survivors will get P20,000 each, the Senate leader said.
Drilon said the money would be deposited to the bank accounts of the recipients on Thursday.
Drilon made the announcement before the widows and family members of some of the fallen SAF men who came to the Senate to listen to the privilege speech of Senate Majority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano on the Mamasapano operation.
