MANILA, Philippines – Director General Alan Purisima, the resigned Philippine National Police chief, has submitted to investigating bodies the contents of his SMS (short messaging service) exchanges with the persons involved in the deadly Mamasapano clash.

In a text message to reporters, Purisima’s counsel Kristoffer James Purisima said his client has furnished the Senate and the PNP’s Board of Inquiry the complete contents of his SMS exchanges with the key persons in the incident.

“There is no need to waive privacy of communications because PDG Purisima has already submitted the complete contents of SMS exchanges to both the Senate and the PNP BOI under oath,” he said.

On Wednesday, Purisima’s camp also submitted a “Position Paper to assist the Senate in its inquiry on the successful Mamasapano operation.”
