CA confirms appointment of Comelec exec once berated by Santiago

MANILA, Philippines — The powerful Commission on Appointments finally confirmed in the plenary on Wednesday the ad interim appointment of Comelec Commissioner Arthur Lim.

No member of the Commission objected when a motion to confirm Lim’s appointment was made on the floor.

Lim was one of the private prosecutors who were berated by Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago during the impeachment trial of then Chief Justice Renato Corona in January 2012. He was appointed as commissioner of the Commission on Elections in July 2014, replacing former Isabela Governor Grace Padaca.

Lim will serve until February 2, 2018.
