POLICE arrested six alleged illegal gun manufacturers and seized several firearms in a raid in barangay Corte, Carmen town, northern Cebu, last Tuesday noon.
Police said Arnel Lozano, 24; Albert Capuyan, 20; Renan Lucero, 20; Dennis Capuyan, 25; Rexter Lozano, 21; and Juhaide Luman, 18 were caught manufacturing guns during the raid.
A search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Judge Enriqueta Loquillano-Belarmino of Branch 25 was used in the raid.
Seized were two .45 pistols, a vintage Japanese .8mm pistol, four unfinished .45 pistols and gun-making equipment.
Senior Supt Jose Pante, chief of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Central Visayas, said the raid was made after a tip from a concerned citizen that the arrested persons were involved in making guns.
Lozano admitted that he has been into gun-making for five years.
Lozano said he earns P4,000 to P5,000 for every .45 pistol made. CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON
