1st ASMSI Solidarity Race: “Run with Us, Help a Child”

The 1ST ASMSI Solidarity Race, “Run with Us, Help a Child”, goes to the starting line on April 19, 2015 in Quezon City Memorial Circle, Quezon City. It shall be the perfect race for all runners and fun run enthusiasts out there who run for a noble cause on top of keeping themselves in good health and in shape.

Organized by the Alumni of the Sisters of Mary School, Inc (ASMSI) Cavite chapter officers and alumni volunteers, the race event aims to raise public awareness about the existence of its beneficiary, Fr. Al’s Children Foundation, Inc (FACFI) and the foundation’s sole beneficiary, the Sisters of Mary Schools in the Philippines.

The event also aims to foster physical fitness and camaraderie, and to provide a vehicle in creating awareness of the existence of The Sisters of Mary School to make it a preferred charitable institution.

This year, the race will have the 3k, 5k, 10k, and 15k race categories. Men and women finishing 1st to 3rd place will be awarded trophies, 1st to 3rd finishers of 10k and 15k will win cash prizes and 15k finishers will have finisher medals.

By 3:30 a.m. of April 19, the 1ST ASMSI Solidarity Race will make the Quezon City Memorial Circle the runner’s picnic ground. Originating from the QCMC Commonwealth Avenue entrance, runners of all distances will race through the elliptical road and up to the UP-Ayala Technohub, and complete the necessary number of laps to complete the chosen category’s distance.

The organizers will be collaborating with government authorities, among them the QC OVM, MMDA, QC DPOS, and Red Cross, to ensure smooth, safe and fun event for all the runners.

Apart from the challenge and fun that this race has for runners, participants will also be helping the ASMSI in its advocacy of helping the 10,000+ poorest of the poor boys and girls from different parts of the country now studying in the Sisters of Mary Schools. Each runner through their registration, will get to donate an amount for free clothing, free shelter, and free quality secondary education of these scholars.

Registration to the race started on Feb. 14 and will continue until April 12, primarily through the online registration at https://solidarityrace.asmsi.org.ph/register.php and an on-site registration at the Canadian Immigration Consultancy (CIC) office in the Mall of Asia.

Other registration sites are being announced through the event’s Facebook group “ASMSI Solidarity Race” at https://www.facebook.com/groups/727367913999521/. There will also be a mass registration for all alumni of the Sisters of Mary School attending the Grand Alumni Homecoming on March 14 and 15, 2015 in Girlstown, Biga, Silang, Cavite.
