MANILA, Philippines — President Benigno Aquino III has approved the promotion of five senior police officials, who took their oath as one-star rank police generals.
The senior police officials, assigned to key positions in the Philippine National Police directorial staff and other units, assumed the rank of chief superintendent on Tuesday.
PNP officer in charge and Deputy Director General Leonardo Espina led the oath taking of the new police generals in Camp Crame.
Promoted were Chief Supt. Pablo Francisco Balagtas, acting director of the Aviation Security Group; Chief Supt. Rolando Nana, acting chief of the Manila Police District; and Chief Supt. Ricardo Zapata Jr., executive officer of the Directorate for Logistics; Chief Supt. Edgardo Tinio, executive officer of the Directorate for Integrated Police Operations (DIPO) in South Luzon; and Chief Supt. Pierre Bucsit, executive officer of DIPO West Mindanao.
The President approved the promotions upon the recommendation of Interior Secretary and National Police Commission chair Mar Roxas and PNP officer in charge Espina.
