MANILA, Philippines—Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. has arrived at the Asian Hospital and Medical Center in Muntinlupa City on Tuesday afternoon to visit his son, Cavite Vice Governor Jolo Revilla who is in the intensive care unit due to a gunshot wound he sustained last Saturday.
He was escorted by members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and arrived at the hospital at 2:10 p.m. from the PNP Custodial Center in Camp Crame.
The Sandiganbayan First Division granted Revilla a five-hour furlough, from 3 p.m to 8 p.m, to visit his son.
Meanwhile, the condition of the younger Revilla has turned from “stable” to “serious” as a pneumonia infection was detected in his left lung.
In the latest medical bulletin issued to reporters on Tuesday, the results of a repeat CT scan of the vice governor detected “air in his chest cavity” and “signs of ongoing pneumonia infection in left lung.”
No one from the Revilla camp faced the media but lawyer Raymond Fortun, Revilla family spokesperson, said he would hold a press conference at 4:30 p.m.
Security within the hospital premises remains tight, with some cameramen forced to go up the rooftop of nearby Ospital ng Muntinlupa to get footage of the senator’s arrival.
Other media positioned themselves in front of a nearby convenience store.
The vice governor was brought to the hospital Saturday morning when he “accidentally” shot himself while cleaning a .40 Glock handgun. AJH
