More than four in every five Filipinos aged 10 to 64 years old (87 percent) are functionally literate, according to the latest Functional Literacy, Education and Mass Media Survey.  The 2008 report said that around 58 million Filipinos who belong to the age bracket mentioned in the study can read, write, compute and comprehend.  Nationwide, the National Capital Region posted the highest functional literacy rate at 94 percent.
