Elderly twins attacked in QC

MANILA, Philippines–An elderly woman was killed while her twin sister was wounded in an attack inside a Quezon City home Thursday night.

The police said Purisima Torregrosa, 76, died of blows to the head and body while her sister Pura had a head wound when found unconscious by the latter’s son around 9:10 p.m.

The sisters were looking after the house for a family friend, identified only as Mr. Go, on Talayan Road in Barangay (villae) Talayan, Senior Insp. Elmer Monsalve, homicide section chief of the Quezon City Police District’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, said.

Investigators are looking at robbery as the possible motive for the attack as it was learned that an LED television set had gone missing from the house.

When he arrived at the house Thursday night, Pura’s son Albert noticed that the gate was slightly open. He later saw Purisima lying in a pool of blood near the main door.

He then found his mother wounded and unconscious in her room.

The police have yet to talk to Pura on Friday as she remained confined in the hospital. Security cameras in the area were also being checked for video clips that could help identify the women’s assailant.
