MANILA, Philippines — The Senate resumed on Tuesday its public hearing on the Mamasapano incident after holding more than two hours a closed-door meeting with military and police officials.
The executive session started at 9:20 a.m. and ended shortly before 12:00 noon.
Immediately after the closed-door meeting, the Senate committee on public order, joint with committees on peace, unification and reconciliation, and finance, resumed its public hearing at 11: 54 a.m.
Present in the hearing were resigned Philippine National Police Chief Director General Alan Purisima, sacked PNP-Special Action Force Director Getulio Napeñas, Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin, Armed Forces of the Philippines chief General Gregorio Catapang, Local Government Secretary Manuel “Mar” Roxas II, Justice Secretary Leila de Lima, PNP officer in charge Deputy Director General Leonardo Espina, Mohagher Iqbal, chief negotiator for the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and other military and police officials, among others.
