On Feb. 22, 1863, notable doctor Ariston Bautista was born in Sta. Cruz, Manila. A philanthropist, he supported many hospitals and religious organizations and sent a lot of Filipino scholars abroad. He was also a member of the Malolos Congress. After his death on March 3, 1928, a marker was installed in Bautista’s birth place by the National Historical Institute on Feb. 22, 1981.
