The Visayan Electric Company (Veco) said Friday the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) informed them about the shortfall in the Visayas grid about 9 a.m.

Veco tapped the different establishments to use their generator sets to offset the shortfall but it was not enough, prompting the power distributor to implement a rotational brownout.

Risa Coloyan, Veco corporate communications supervisor, said the shortage occurred during peak hours, unlike during Thursday’s blackout when it happened at dawn which was considered off-peak hours.
