MANILA, Philippines – Move over, professional lion dancers, there’s a group of street kids out to rival your feat.
Street children in rags on Thursday performed their own version of lion dance as part of the celebration of the Lunar New Year.
The kids performed the lion dance on Reina Regente Street in Manila’s Chinatown district.
Using a sack and a piece of “katsa” or muslin, the kids trotted away in front of delighted revelers who trooped to the world’s oldest Chinatown to take part in ushering the Year of the Wooden Sheep. AJH
