MANILA, Philippines–Anti-narcotics agents recently nabbed an alleged Moro Islamic Liberation Front member and his wife for selling P3-million worth of illegal drugs after engaging in a brief gunfight in Manila.
Last Tuesday, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency personnel exchanged fire with the cohorts of Aminodin Guinto and his wife, Marizen, both 21 years old and residents of Barangay 648 in San Miguel district.
Aminodin was found to have an identification card indicating that he is an MILF member.
PDEA Director General Undersecretary Arturo G. Cacdac Jr. said the couple were caught selling at least 1 kilogram of shabu, or methamphetamine hydrochloride, to a poser buyer.
As the agents started to arrest the couple, undetermined number of men opened fire at the PDEA team along Arlegui Street, also in San Miguel.
“The gun fight lasted for about five minutes. Fortunately, no casualties were reported from both sides,” Cacdac said.
Cases of sale of dangerous drugs under Republic Act 9165 or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are set to be filed in court against the Guintos.
