MANILA, Philippines—The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) will now accept the new postal identification card (Postal ID) as one of the supporting documents required in securing a passport.
The Philippine Postal Corporation has announced that the new Postal ID, which is now available in post offices nationwide, is now accepted as a requirement when applying for a passport.
The new Postal ID is a wallet-sized PVC plastic card featuring various digital security features, making it fake-proof.
“We are thankful that the DFA has included the Postal ID as one of their government accredited Identification cards. PHL Post assured the public and other government agencies of the integrity and credibility of their now improved ID system,” said Postmaster General Josie Dela Cruz.
The new Postal ID, which is available in 260 post offices nationwide, costs P370 plus a 12 percent value-added tax.
