Did you know: 70th Liberation Day

/ 02:47 AM February 09, 2015

Today, Feb. 9, is the 70th Liberation Day and 21st cityhood anniversary of Mandaluyong City. At the onset of World War II, Japanese Imperial Forces occupied Mandaluyong and in 1945, American Liberation Forces helped liberate the municipality. In 1994, then President Fidel V. Ramos signed Republic Act No. 7675, marking the conversion of Mandaluyong from a municipality to a highly urbanized city. This was confirmed following a plebiscite held on April 10, 1994.–Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
