MANILA, Philippines ― President Benigno Aquino III asked for strength, guidance and grace so he could continue serving the country as he celebrated his 55th birthday on Sunday.
“Siyempre ang nais ng Pangulo sa kanyang pananalangin ay magkaroon siya ng ibayong lakas at patnubay at grasya na magampanan ang kanyang mga tungkulin dahil po sa mahalagang ginagawa niyang paglilingkod sa ating mga mamamayan,” Communications Secretary Herminio “Sonny” Coloma Jr. said in an interview over state run radio dzRB.
(Of course, in his prayers the President asks that he may be given strength, guidance, and grace to continue his duty of serving our people.)
Coloma asked the Filipino people to also pray for Aquino so that he may be able to deliver on his promise of “inclusive growth” in the country.
“Taimtim na panalangin at gabay ng Panginoon ang ating hangad para sa Pangulo sa kanyang patuloy na pagpapatupad at pagtataguyod ng mga proyekto at programa para matamo ang adhikaing inclusive growth sa loob ng kanyang panunungkulan,” Coloma added.
(We solemnly ask in prayer that the Lord guide the President so that he may be able to continue implementing projects to achieve inclusive growth during his presidency.)
Aquino turned 55-years-old amid heavy backlash from the botched operation in Mamasapano town in Maguindanao last January 25 where 44 elite policemen, four civilians, and 18 Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) members were killed.
