MANILA, Philippines–The hostage drama in Barangay (village) 132 in Pasay City has ended, after he gun-wielding man who took eight persons as captive was arrested Wednesday afternoon.

In a report from radio dzBB, the hostage taker, Christopher Magsusay, 56, freed the hostages including five minors after almost seven hours of being held hostage and tried to escape by climbing the roof.

Magsusay sustained wounds after Pasay City police chased and arrested him.

The hostage-taker was rushed to the nearest hospital while the hostages are undergoing stress debriefing.

Authorities are still investigating the motive as to why Magsusay took the hostages.
