Sick mother of two needs P65k for kidney surgery
MANILA, Philippines–Before Agnes Canonigo was diagnosed with a defective kidney in 2009 and advised to undergo surgery for its removal, she had been suffering from frequent urinary tract infections.
“Unfortunately, I did not heed my doctors’ advice because there were too many requirements and I could not afford the cost of the operation,” said Canonigo, a single mother with two children.
She said that upon learning that her condition could not be relieved through medicines, she became depressed.
When she came back to the National Kidney and Transplant Institute last year because of her worsening condition, doctors reminded her that she should be operated on immediately.
“Considering that I am still alive after five years, I think I am meant to survive, that’s why I am asking for your help in raising the P65,000 I need for the procedure,” she said.
