MANILA, Philippines — President Benigno Aquino III arrived at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig on Friday morning to attend the necrological services for the Philippine National Police (PNP) Special Action Force (SAF) members killed in Mamasapano, Maguindanao.

Aquino arrived shortly after 10 a.m. after a pause in the services.

The first part of the necrological services involved the giving of remarks by SAF officers.

After that, the families of the victims were given time to approach the coffins of the policemen killed in a supposed misencounter with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF).

Also present at the event were Cabinet members and other government officials.
