Cebu cops join ‘sympathy walk’ for slain SAF men

Cebu city mapCEBU CITY–Despite the early morning drizzle, over a hundred policemen on Friday walked for about three kilometers to show their sympathy for the slain 44 Special Action Forces members in Mamasapano, Maguindanao.

Senior Supt. Noel Gillamac, Cebu police director, and Supt. Rodolfo Albotra of the Philippine National Police Academy Alumni Association (PNPAAA) led the walk from the Cebu I.T. Park to the Camp Sergio Osmeña, headquarters of the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7)located along Osmeña Boulevard in Cebu City, a distance of about 3 km.

Policemen converged at Cebu I.T. Park in Barangay Lahug about 4 a.m. on the PNPAAA’s invitation to join the “Sympathy Walk for Justice.”

Participants included policemen from as far as San Remegio town in northern Cebu and Ronda town in the south.

Shortly after 5 a.m., the group walked to Camp Sergio Osmeña, despite the early morning drizzle.

At the tail end were 20 police cars.

Shortly after their arrival at the police camp at 7 a.m., a Mass was held for the souls of the slain SAF members.
