MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC) awarded Friday the contract for the supply of P61.5 million worth of steel rails for the Metro Rail Transit (MRT-3).
MRT spokesman Hernando Cabrera said the DOTC awarded Friday the Jorgman-Daewoo-MBTech Joint Venture the contract for the supply of 608 pieces of 12-meter rails for the MRT-3
Cabrera said after the contract is finalized,
the Notice to Proceed (NTP) would be issued next week and the contractor would then have 90 days from receipt of the NTP to deliver the rails, including fastening materials.
The MRT-3 in recent months has drawn sharp criticisms from its riders due to several operational glitches caused by technical problems and broken railways.
