Joker Arroyo, Rene Saguisag aid Mayor Jun-Jun Binay

MANILA, Philippines — Makati City Mayor Jejomar Erwin “Jun-Jun” Binay brought at least two legal eagles — former Senators Joker Arroyo and Rene Saguisag — to defend himself in the Senate.

Arroyo and Saguisag will serve as counsels of the mayor, said Binay’s spokesman Joey Salgado.

The two former senators showed up in the Senate even if they were not listed as resource persons in the ongoing hearing of the Senate blue ribbon subcommittee on the alleged anomalies in Makati City.

Arroyo and Saguisag have been known allies of Binay’s father, Vice President Jejomar “Jojo” Binay, since the Martial Law years.

Binay, who has been detained at the Office of the Senate Sergeant-At-Arms since his arrest for contempt, continued to resist the subcommittee’s order to appear before the hearing.
