Mayor Binay asks Nancy: Is there sunlight in Senate detention?
MANILA, Philippines—After being cited in contempt and ordered detained by the Senate blue ribbon committee, Makati Mayor Jejomar Erwin “Junjun” Binay Jr. is wondering if he would be able to see the sun in detention.
Senator Nancy Binay said this was among her brother’s queries when they shared breakfast at her house Tuesday morning.
“Nagkita na kami kaninang umaga, syempre tinatanong lang nya sa akin kung may araw ba daw dun sa tutuluyan nya. Sabi ko parang walang araw yata dun,” the senator told reporters.
Nancy Binay said her brother also asked her about the status of the contempt citation and when the arrest order will be served.
“Tinanong nya ano daw ba ang status ng contempt. Tinanong din nya, kailangan ko na bang maghanda? Kung tuloy na yung arrest warrant?” she said.
“Sabi ko pwede mamayang gabi o bukas,” the senator said in jest.
