MANILA, Philippines–The Philippine Army will receive 23 M1152 Humvee ambulances on Monday to address the immediate medical needs of wounded troops on the battlefield prior to their transfer to medical facilities.

A total of 30 Humvee ambulances were procured under the Philippine Defense Reform Program to enhance the Forward Health Service Support System of the Philippine Army. The remaining seven units are expected to be delivered next month.

The Army said the turnover of the ambulances would be held at General Headquarters in Camp Aguinaldo, with Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin as guest of honor.

Each ambulance is equipped with a life support system, including oxygen tanks, suction system, upper litter rack, sliding attendant seat, first aid kit, tools and manuals, among other things.–Cynthia D. Balana
