2 die, 2 hurt in Dagupan collision

DAGUPAN CITY, Philippines – Two persons died, while two others were hurt when a sport utility vehicle (SUV) and a car collided here early Thursday.

Police identified those who died as Willie Agsaoay, 42, and Edison Meneses, 21, both of Barangay (village) Tebag in Sta. Barbara town in Pangasinan province.

Injured were Jeofrey Agpalasin, 31, also of Barangay Tebag in Sta. Barbara, and Mark Patrick Jacinto, 23, of Barangay Quesban in Calasiao town.

Superintendent Christopher Abrahano, police chief, said the collision happened at about 1 a.m. in Barangay Caranglaan, about two kilometers from this city.

Investigators said the accident took place after the speeding SUV driven by Jacinto overtook a tricycle and crashed into Agsaoay’s car, which was travelling in the opposite direction.

Agsaoay and Meneses, who was one of the car’s passengers, were rushed to the hospital but doctors pronounced them dead on arrival.
