Congress postpones SK elections to 2016

MANILA, Philippines–Senators and congressmen have agreed to postpone the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections to 2016.

House majority floor leader Neptali Gonzales II confirmed in a text message on Wednesday that the agreement between the House of Representatives and the Senate to postpone the SK elections to 2016 has been reached.

The SK election day was previously scheduled on February 21.

Meanwhile, Commission on Elections spokesman James Jimenez said the poll body has not received a formal letter or advisory regarding the postponement.

“So we’re waiting to see how that turns out,” Jimenez said in a text message.
