In July 1994, Congress enacted Republic Act No. 7829 converting the municipality of Pasig into a highly urbanized city. Signed into law in December 1994 by then President Fidel Ramos, RA 7829 was the result of a plebiscite on Pasig’s cityhood held on Jan. 21, 1995.
