In July 1994, Congress enacted Republic Act No. 7829 converting the municipality of Pasig into a highly urbanized city. Signed into law in December 1994 by then President Fidel Ramos, RA 7829 was the result of a plebiscite on Pasig’s cityhood held on Jan. 21, 1995. As of May 2010, the city had a population of almost 670,000, based on the 2010 Census. Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
