MANILA, Philippines – The low pressure area near Cagayan has dissipated, the state weather bureau said Tuesday.

“The LPA east southeast of Tuguegarao City has dissipated. It will no longer have significant effect to any part of the country,” the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.

The LPA was formerly Tropical Storm Amang (Mekkhala) which dumped rains during the itinerary of Pope Francis over the weekend.

The northeast monsoon continues to affect northern Luzon.

“The regions of Cagayan Valley, Cordillera and Ilocos will experience cloudy skies with light rains,” Pagasa said.

Strong to gale force winds associated with the surge of the northeasterly surface wind flow are expected to affect the northern seaboard of Northern Luzon.

Small sea craft and fishing vessels are advised not to venture out into the sea due to the big waves, Pagasa said.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with isolated light rains.

Visayas and Mindanao will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rains. Thunderstorms are likely to occur over these areas, Pagasa said.
