DSWD allots P62M for ‘Pedring’ victims

MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Social Welfare Development (DSWD) has allocated P62 million from its standby fund for victims of Typhoon “Pedring”, its head told the Senate on Wednesday.

“We have a standby fund of P62 million in the seven regions affected by Pedring,” DSWD Secretary Corazon Soliman said during the budget hearing of the finance committee.

“We are ready to augment that,” Soliman added.

For 2011, the department has allocated P662.5 million in standby fund to augment the budget of local governments in disasters.

Of the amount, P351.6 million has been spent as of August 31.
