Another minor among fatalities of collapsed wall in Bulacan

MANILA, Philippines—Authorities have identified the fatalities in the collapsed wall of a warehouse in Bulacan, which have risen to 11 with the identification of another minor.

Senior Superintendent Ferdinand Divina, Bulacan Police Provincial Office director, on Tuesday confirmed that a 7-year-old son of a construction worker also died on the way to the hospital.

The boy was playing beside the wall when it collapsed. He was brought to Polymedic Hospital in Guiguinto town to no avail, Divina said.

The other minor was a 14-year-old laborer, the police report said. Earlier reports said one minor was among the victims.

Nine other construction workers were killed while five were injured when the north wall of the warehouse in Barangay Ilang-Ilang collapsed on the workers’ barracks Monday afternoon.

Divina said the unfinished structure was owned by Number One Golden Dragon Realty Corp.

As of press time, rescue teams aided by the Philippine National Police and Armed Forces of the Philippines personnel are still conducting retrieval and clearing operations on the place of incident.
