SC moves session due to papal visit

MANILA, Philippines–The Supreme Court has moved its full court session from Tuesday to Wednesday following the Papal visit.

“The move from Tuesday to Wednesday was prompted by the Papal visit,” said a statement by Theodore Te, the High Court’s information chief.

Te’s statement also cited “the proclamation by the President of a long holiday in the National Capital Region as well as inaccessibility to Taft Avenue which prevented the members of the court from circulating their draft ponencias for inclusion in the agenda.”
Courts in the National Capital Region has resumed work Tuesday following a three-day work suspension on January 15, 16 and 19) due to Pope Francis’ visit.

One of the cases expected to be tackled on the resumption of its en banc (full court) session is the disqualification case against Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada.

A source said the case has been submitted for resolution.
