‘Amang’ weakens into tropical depression

MANILA, Philippines—Tropical Storm “Amang” (international name Mekkhala) has weakened into a tropical depression.
In its last weather bulletin for Sunday, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that as of 10 p.m., Amang was packing maximum winds of 55 kilomters per hour and moving north northwest at 11 kph.
Signal No. 1 is hoisted over Cagayan, lsabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Nueva Ecija, Quirino, Aurora, Bulacan and Northern Quezon including Polilio Island.
Amang is forecast to be 65 km east northeast of Tuguegarao City by Monday evening and 220 km east southeast of Basco, Batanes by Tuesday evening.
