MANILA, Philippines—A magnitude-4 earthquake shook the island province of Bohol at 8:33 p.m. Sunday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said.
There was no immediate report of damage or injury from the quake that struck 26 kilometers northwest of Tagbilaran City at a shallow depth of four kilometers.
It was felt at Intensity IV in Tagbilaran City and Loon, Bohol; Intensity II in Tayasan and Sibulan Negros Oriental and Argao, Cebu; and Intensity I in Busay, Cebu.
On Oct. 15, 2013, a 7.2-magnitude earthquake struck underneath Bohol, killing at least 222 people and injuring 976 others.
The Philippines sits on the Pacific “Ring of Fire” where continental plates collide, causing frequent seismic and volcanic activity.
